Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Henry County Criminal History, you consent to the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. Henry County Criminal History does not keep a separate log or database of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is kept within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server may receive routine technical details about the request:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • The referring website, when one is reported
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • Operating system and general device category
  • Browser type and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics vendors may process that usage data for us. A browser can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing faults and other technical problems
  • Understanding which pages are useful and which need revision
  • Routing a search request to the selected outside provider
  • Operating, securing, and improving site performance
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect general interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Henry County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a personal criminal-record database. It publishes directions to official custodians, including the Henry County Sheriff's Office, Iowa District Court, Iowa DCI, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not turned into a third-party dossier or consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Independent companies supply the search tools. Information submitted inside a tool is handled under that company's privacy policy and retention practices, which this policy does not control. Review the provider's terms before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Henry County government, Iowa Courts Online, Iowa DCI, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's policy governs the visit. Check that policy before disclosing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is controlled by their policies.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:

  • Advertising networks that deliver ads
  • Analytics vendors that measure use and performance
  • Search providers that process a submitted query
  • A court, law enforcement agency, or government body acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, so these measures reduce risk but cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults, and personal data is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18. If a minor's information is identified, a deletion request may be made through the contact channel.

Your Data Rights

Visitor requests are handled subject to applicable law. Iowa's public criminal-record framework is distinct: Iowa Code chapter 22 governs records held by public bodies, while Iowa Code chapter 692 governs criminal-history dissemination and subject challenge rights. For information held directly by this private site, you may:

  • Request deletion of eligible personal information
  • Object to certain forms of processing
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Request a copy of information kept about you

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version becomes available here and carries an updated effective date.
